Peppernut Cookies (Pfeffernusse) Recipe

Pfeffernusse, or traditional German cookies, are spiced with cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and black pepper, giving them a warm and slightly spicy flavour. They're ideal for the holidays or whenever you crave a delicious and comforting cookie.

  • Prep Time: 20 minutes
  • Cook Time: 10 minutes
  • Total Time: 30 minutes

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350° F.
  • (175 degrees C).
  • Cream the confectioners' sugar and butter together in a large mixing bowl until smooth.
  • Incorporate the molasses and egg.
  • Mix the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and black pepper into the molasses mixture gradually.
  • Drop tablespoons of dough onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until lightly browned, in a preheated oven.
  • Cool down on wire racks.
