Cherry Shortbread Cookies Recipe
These buttery, crumbly Cherry Shortbread Cookies are bursting with sweet cherries. They're ideal for anything from afternoon tea to dessert after dinner.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup maraschino cherries, chopped
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
Time Needed
- Prep Time: 20 minutes
- Cook Time: 15 minutes
- Total Time: 35 minutes
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cream together the butter, powdered sugar, and almond extract in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
- Mix in the flour a little at a time until the dough comes together.
- Add the chopped maraschino cherries and mix well.
- Place the dough in 1-inch balls on an ungreased cookie sheet.
- Press down lightly on each cookie with the tines of a fork to flatten slightly.
- Cook for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and cool for 5 minutes on the cookie sheet before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
