Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon and cloves in a medium mixing bowl.
  • In a separate large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until creamy.
  • Mix in the molasses, egg, and vanilla extract until thoroughly combined.
  • Stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until a dough forms.
  • Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Preheat the oven to 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly browned.
  • Allow to cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • In a small mixing bowl, combine the powdered sugar and milk to make a smooth icing.
  • Drizzle the icing over the cookies after they have cooled and set before serving.
