Salted Gingerbread Cookies Recipe
These Salted Gingerbread Cookies are a delectable take on a traditional holiday treat. The sea salt adds a savoury note that perfectly balances the sweetness of the molasses and spices.
Ingredients
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- As a finishing touch, sprinkle with sea salt
- 1 egg
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

- Prep Time: 15 minutes
- Cook Time: 12 minutes
- Total Time: 27 minutes
Instructions
- Cream together the butter and brown sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
- Mix in the molasses and egg.
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon and cloves in a separate bowl.
- Stir the flour mixture into the butter mixture until well combined.
- Refrigerate the dough for at least 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
- Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on top of each ball.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set and the centres are soft.
- Allow cookies to cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
