Homemade Ginger Cookies Recipe

These warm and spicy ginger cookies have a soft and chewy texture. They're ideal for drinking with tea or coffee.

  • Prep Time: 20 minutes
  • Cook Time: 12 minutes
  • Total Time: 32 minutes

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Cream the butter and sugar together in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
  • Mix in the molasses and egg thoroughly.
  • Whisk together the flour, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves and salt in a separate bowl.
  • Stir the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until well combined.
  • Roll the dough into balls with rounded tablespoons.
  • Place the balls on the prepared baking sheet, leaving approximately 2 inches (5 cm) between each one.
  • 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centres are set, bake the cookies.
  • Remove the cookies from the oven and cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
