Chewy Gingerbread Cookies Recipe
These Chewy Gingerbread Cookies are the perfect holiday treat. They're soft and chewy, with just a hint of spice.
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 tsp ground ginger
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 egg
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp ground cloves
- 1/4 cup molasses
Time Needed
- Prep Time: 20 minutes
- Cook Time: 10 minutes
- Total Time: 30 minutes
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Cream the butter and brown sugar together in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
- Incorporate the molasses and egg.
- Whisk together the flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, salt and baking soda in a separate bowl.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture gradually, mixing until just combined.
- Form the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the centres are still soft.
- Allow the cookies to cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
