Gingerbread Cookies Recipe

Instructions

  • Cream the butter and brown sugar together in a large mixing bowl.
  • Mix in the molasses and egg until well combined.
  • Whisk together the flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg in a separate bowl.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing well after each addition.
  • Divide the dough into two portions, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
  • Roll out each portion of dough to 1/4-inch (6-mm) thickness on a floured surface.
  • Cut out shapes from the dough with cookie cutters and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges begin to brown.
  • Allow the cookies to cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheet before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
