Homemade Gingerbread Cookies Recipe
These Homemade Gingerbread Cookies are the perfect holiday treat. They're soft and chewy with just the right amount of spice, and they smell delicious while baking.
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp ground cloves
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp ground ginger
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
Time Needed
- Prep Time: 20 minutes
- Cook Time: 10 minutes
- Total Time: 30 minutes
Instructions
- Cream the butter and brown sugar together in a large mixing bowl until smooth.
- Stir in the molasses and egg until thoroughly combined.
- Combine the flour, baking soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon and cloves in a separate bowl.
- Stir the flour mixture into the butter mixture gradually until a dough forms.
- Refrigerate the dough for at least 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (180 degrees Celsius).
- Roll out the dough to a 1/4-inch thickness on a lightly floured surface.
- Using cookie cutters, cut into desired shapes.
- Place the cookies on a baking sheet that has been lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly browned.
- Cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
