Instructions

  • Cream the butter and brown sugar together in a large mixing bowl until smooth.
  • Stir in the molasses and egg until thoroughly combined.
  • Combine the flour, baking soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon and cloves in a separate bowl.
  • Stir the flour mixture into the butter mixture gradually until a dough forms.
  • Refrigerate the dough for at least 1 hour.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (180 degrees Celsius).
  • Roll out the dough to a 1/4-inch thickness on a lightly floured surface.
  • Using cookie cutters, cut into desired shapes.
  • Place the cookies on a baking sheet that has been lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly browned.
  • Cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
