Christmas Cookies Recipe
These festive Christmas cookies are just in time for the holidays. Vanilla extract flavours the sugar cookie dough, which is coloured with red and green food colouring. They're then rolled in red and green sprinkles to add a festive touch.
Ingredients
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup sprinkles (red and green)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Red and green food coloring
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, room temp
Time Needed
- Prep Time: 20 minutes
- Cook Time: 12 minutes
- Total Time: 32 minutes
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Stir in the dry ingredients gradually until just combined.
- Divide the dough in half and color one half with red food coloring and the other with green food coloring.
- Roll each half of the dough into balls, then coat with red and green sprinkles.
- Place the balls about 2 inches apart on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Allow the cookies to cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheet before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
