Homemade Gingerbread Man Cookies Recipe

These traditional gingerbread man cookies are ideal for the holiday season or any other time of year. Warm spices and molasses combine to make a delicious and comforting treat.

Ingredients

1 tablespoon ground ginger
3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup molasses
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt

Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 40 minutes

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F.
(175 degrees C).
In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar with an electric mixer until fluffy.
Mix in the egg and molasses.
Stir in the flour mixture just until combined.
Make two balls of dough and flatten them into discs.
Refrigerate for at least 1 hour after wrapping each disc in plastic wrap.
Roll each disc out to 1/4 inch thickness on a floured surface.
Using a cookie cutter, cut out gingerbread men and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly browned.
Allow to cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
