Santa Cookies Recipe
These festive cookies are ideal for the holidays. The bright candy cane shape is sure to get anyone in the holiday spirit.
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup butter, softened
- food coloring in red and green
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Time Needed
- Prep Time: 20 minutes
- Cook Time: 10 minutes
- Total Time: 30 minutes
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- (175 degrees C).
- Cream the butter and sugar together until smooth.
- Mix in the vanilla and eggs.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture thoroughly.
- Divide the dough into three equal pieces.
- Fill one portion with red food coloring and another with green food coloring.
- The third section should be left uncolored.
- Roll each portion into a rope and arrange the three ropes together.
- Twist the ropes together to form a candy cane shape.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes on an ungreased cookie sheet, or until the edges are lightly browned.
- Allow to cool on a wire rack.
