These festive Christmas Tree Cookies are a fun and delicious holiday treat to make. The buttery sugar cookie base is flavoured with vanilla, tinted green to look like a tree, and topped with a rainbow of colourful candies and sprinkles.
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- Green food coloring
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- Two large eggs
- Colorful candies and sprinkles in various sizes
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
Time Needed
- Prep Time: 30 minutes
- Cook Time: 12 minutes
- Total Time: 42 minutes
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Cream the butter and sugar together in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
- One at a time, beat in the eggs, followed by the vanilla extract.
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
- Stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until completely combined.
- Add green food coloring to achieve the desired color.
- Form the dough into triangles to resemble Christmas trees on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Remove the cookies from the oven and immediately press the assorted candies and sprinkles on top to decorate.
- Allow to completely cool before serving.
