English Digestive Biscuits Recipe

English Digestive Biscuits are a traditional teatime treat that is both crunchy and sweet. Because they are made with wholemeal flour and oats, these biscuits are a healthier alternative to many other biscuits.

Ingredients

Time Needed

  • Prep Time: 20 minutes
  • Cook Time: 15 minutes
  • Total Time: 35 minutes

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  • Combine the flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and rolled oats in a large mixing bowl.
  • Rub the butter into the dry ingredients with your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs.
  • Add the milk and form the dough into a ball with your hands.
  • Roll the dough out to about 1/4 inch thickness on a lightly floured surface.
  • Cut out the biscuits with a 2-inch round cutter, rerolling the scraps as needed.
  • Place the biscuits on a baking sheet that has been lined with parchment paper.
  • 12-15 minutes, or until lightly golden.
  • Remove the biscuits from the oven and place them on a wire rack to cool.
