English Digestive Biscuits Recipe
English Digestive Biscuits are a traditional teatime treat that is both crunchy and sweet. Because they are made with wholemeal flour and oats, these biscuits are a healthier alternative to many other biscuits.
Ingredients
- 100g butter (unsalted)
- wholemeal flour (225g)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 3 tbsp milk
- 50g rolled oats
- sugar content is 75g
- 1/4 tsp salt
Time Needed
- Prep Time: 20 minutes
- Cook Time: 15 minutes
- Total Time: 35 minutes
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- Combine the flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and rolled oats in a large mixing bowl.
- Rub the butter into the dry ingredients with your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs.
- Add the milk and form the dough into a ball with your hands.
- Roll the dough out to about 1/4 inch thickness on a lightly floured surface.
- Cut out the biscuits with a 2-inch round cutter, rerolling the scraps as needed.
- Place the biscuits on a baking sheet that has been lined with parchment paper.
- 12-15 minutes, or until lightly golden.
- Remove the biscuits from the oven and place them on a wire rack to cool.
