Rich Tea Biscuits Recipe

These traditional British biscuits are ideal for dipping in a cup of tea.

Ingredients

Time Needed

  • Prep Time: 20 minutes
  • Cook Time: 15 minutes
  • Total Time: 35 minutes

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C/gas mark 4 and set aside.
  • In a mixing bowl, sift together the flour and baking powder.
  • Rub in the butter until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.
  • Add the sugar and mix well.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk the egg, then add it to the mixture along with the milk.
  • Combine everything until it forms a smooth dough.
  • Roll out the dough to a thickness of 3mm on a floured surface.
  • Cut out the biscuits with a 6cm cutter and place them on a baking tray.
  • Preheat the oven to 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Allow to cool before serving on a wire rack.
