- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- Colored sugar is used for decorating
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup granulated sugar

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cream the butter and sugar together in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
- Incorporate the egg and vanilla extract.
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
- Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture in a slow, steady stream until just combined.
- Roll the dough into small balls and coat with colored sugar.
- Place the balls about 2 inches apart on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Preheat the oven to 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Allow the cookies to cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheet before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
