Butter Cookies Recipe
These butter cookies have a tender and crumbly texture that is ideal for dipping in milk or tea. They're simple to make and can be topped with your favourite ingredients like chocolate chips, nuts, or dried fruit.
Ingredients
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon baking powder

- Cook Time: 15 minutes
- Total Time: 35 minutes
Instructions
- Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture gradually, mixing until just combined.
- Divide the dough into two parts and roll each into a 2-inch-diameter log.
- Wrap each log tightly in plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for at least an hour.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F/175°C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Remove the dough from the refrigerator and cut it into 1/4-inch thick rounds.
- Place the cookies on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
- Preheat the oven to 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Remove from the oven and cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
