Decorated Christmas Cookies Recipe
These festive cookies are ideal for ringing in the holiday season. They'll be a hit with both kids and adults thanks to the colourful icing and fun sprinkles.
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, room temp
- icing
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- colored food
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- sprinkles
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
Time Needed
- Prep Time: 20 minutes
- Cook Time: 12 minutes
- Total Time: 32 minutes
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.
- Cream the butter and sugar together in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
- Mix in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until thoroughly combined.
- Mix in the flour mixture until it is just combined with the butter mixture.
- Divide the dough into two equal portions, and color each one as desired.
- Roll out each portion of dough to a thickness of 1/4 inch.
- Cut out desired shapes with cookie cutters and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
- Allow the cookies to cool completely before decorating with icing and sprinkles.
